All Boys

The fun never ends around here, the boys had a great time "helping" us doing some landscaping around the new driveway this afternoon. I didn't get a picture of it, but the boys were literally laying in the dirt to get a closer look at the worms. Fisher was a little nervous to touch them until Noah started picking them up and playing with them, then he just couldn't be out done by the little guy, I'm so glad he has a brother. Then, after we finished in the dirt for the day the boys went over to borrow the neighbors street hockey gear minus the roller blades of course. I couldn't believe how well Noah was doing with it. Some day we'll be able to say he was playing hockey before he could even say the word. These pictures may be worth millions some day, you'll have to get them autographed though, of course.

After Yesterday,

I have no doubt that there will be diggers and loaders in heaven. My boys were totally in awe of the heavy equiptment as they dug a driveway and pulled some old cement slabs from our backyard. This weekend Andy has a concrete mixer (how exciting?!) coming to pour a driveway for us, so while the excavator was here, they pulled some stumps and brought top soil so that we can even out some low spots and plant grass where the old slabs used to be. Our backyard is going to be tranformed, YAY!!! But, for now, the boys will be needing baths every night or maybe multiple times a day, they are magnets for that pile of black dirt next to their sandbox. All this also means that I'll have new flowerbeds to plant more perennials along the driveway. This, I'm very excited about. Fisher's excited to be able to ride his bike in our driveway instead of going to the neighbors or waiting for Mom and Dad to take him to the school parking lot in the next block over. And I'm really excited to see Noah riding a tricycle alongside his brother next summer in the driveway. I'll keep you posted with photos of all the hoopla! Take Care All!
Notice both boys are ready for working sporting their Carhart :)

Big News to Share

Not yesterday, but last sunday Fisher went to children's church for the very first time! My little boy is growing up. It was so perfect too, God just put everything in place for his ease into what he calls "school." I went and asked if he could try it out, really it's intended for kids starting at 3, but he was going a little nutty in the nursery with all those little babies. I filled out the appropriate paperwork and he was assigned to group 3, I turned around to find group 3 and there it was with Beth, my cousin, as the teacher (is that not perfect?). We went over to talk to her and she explained to Fisher that they'd be learning about Jesus and a man named Job. This is when I started tearing up, I used to think that those moms who sat outside the kindergarden classrooms with red puffy eyes on the first day of school were weak, I've faced the reality that I'm going to be a wreck! I checked on him (and his brother in the nursery) a couple of times without their knowledge throughout the service and they seemed to be doing well. I couldn't wait to pick him up after church to find out how it went. He said he had fun, Beth said the same and then explained that she was just teaching that week and then had another commitment which just made me more grateful to have her there for Fisher's first week! In the car as we left I was anxious to get Fisher's undivided attention and get the whole scoop. When I asked what he did at sunday school he said, "We danced and did Bible," then I asked his favorite part he said, "Jesus." What a lesson that was for Momma, if I lived my life dancing with joy and spending time in the Bible, I know I would allow Jesus to better capture my heart too.

Along With 50,000 Other People

The boys, Andy, my parents and I did the Labor Day Bridge Walk across the Macinac Bridge. It was pretty crazy, we got up very early to make what should have only been the hour and maybe 15 minute drive. About 2 miles shy of Macinac city traffic came to a screeching halt! Andy did the bridge walk with his family as a child and while we sat waiting in traffic he told us that one of his vivid memories of the walk was waiting in line to board the buses that take you to the north side of the bridge. We all thought "Sure we'll have to wait a while," but we had no idea that a while would mean about 2&1/2 hours! Here's a photo of the time we spent waiting but it doesn't capture the 6 block line and the corral just before boarding the buses similar to those at Cedar Point or Disney World. All that to say we finally made it to the buses, Fisher was so excited to ride a school bus, it was by far his favorite part of the day, especially since he slept through most of the bridge walk. Did you see the buses in the left of the picture?
So here's some stats on the Bridge:
1. It's approximately five miles long.
2. It's the 3rd largest suspension bridge in the world, behind one in Japan and one in Denmark.
3. It celebrated 50 years of connecting the upper peninsula to the lower peninsula this year!
It really is an amazing feat in engineering and the views from the bridge were amazing! It was a perfect day for the walk. The breeze was pleasant but not too gusty, the sun was bright, and the temperature was very comfortable. Noah and Fisher were very good, especially considering they just got cat naps in their strollers.

I'm so glad that we decided to go,we had a really great time. I just want to say thanks to my family for going along with one of my crazy ideas once again. I love you guys!

I guess they look a little alike...

...but Noah has more hair. And just to clarify, we aren't making any announcements, it was just a good picture of Fisher at about Noah's age.
