Along With 50,000 Other People

The boys, Andy, my parents and I did the Labor Day Bridge Walk across the Macinac Bridge. It was pretty crazy, we got up very early to make what should have only been the hour and maybe 15 minute drive. About 2 miles shy of Macinac city traffic came to a screeching halt! Andy did the bridge walk with his family as a child and while we sat waiting in traffic he told us that one of his vivid memories of the walk was waiting in line to board the buses that take you to the north side of the bridge. We all thought "Sure we'll have to wait a while," but we had no idea that a while would mean about 2&1/2 hours! Here's a photo of the time we spent waiting but it doesn't capture the 6 block line and the corral just before boarding the buses similar to those at Cedar Point or Disney World. All that to say we finally made it to the buses, Fisher was so excited to ride a school bus, it was by far his favorite part of the day, especially since he slept through most of the bridge walk. Did you see the buses in the left of the picture?
So here's some stats on the Bridge:
1. It's approximately five miles long.
2. It's the 3rd largest suspension bridge in the world, behind one in Japan and one in Denmark.
3. It celebrated 50 years of connecting the upper peninsula to the lower peninsula this year!
It really is an amazing feat in engineering and the views from the bridge were amazing! It was a perfect day for the walk. The breeze was pleasant but not too gusty, the sun was bright, and the temperature was very comfortable. Noah and Fisher were very good, especially considering they just got cat naps in their strollers.

I'm so glad that we decided to go,we had a really great time. I just want to say thanks to my family for going along with one of my crazy ideas once again. I love you guys!
