Bogard Family Happenings

So much to post about... We loved Halloween, Andy and I as much as the boys I think. It's another one of those expereinces for me that while in many ways bringing back my own fun memories of trick or treating as a child, just makes me absolutely gitty to see my boys have such a great time. Fisher was oh so polite saying trick-or treat upon arriving at each door and always saying thank you, I'll be it with mom and dads prompts at times (it's easy to forget your manners when there are ghosts and goblins following you). For a while I tried keeping Noah in stroller but it took that little brain no time to figure out that people were getting candy up at the front doors. It took him so much more effort than the big kids to get to the door but it was so sweet to see his determination. He'd waddle to the steps in his big giraffe costume and then usually resort to crawling up the steps and then pull himself back up to standing to do his begging. By this time, his brother and Anna were half way to the next house. Hopefully Jen got some good pictures of Halloween night, because I was so busy digging for mittens and things I didn't take any pictures before we took off.

The other big news is that with some other stay-at home moms (of 2 and 3 year olds) we've organized an "At-Home Preschool" once a week. It's been so fun and the kids are really enjoying it. They are getting exposed to all sorts of new things and it's a great reminder to me that the boys are learning all the time. The way it works is that two other moms and I rotate hosting it at our homes and coming up with the activities once per month and then on the forth week we're trying to do a field trip. The month of October went so well and last week we went to Raven Hill Discovery Center, it's kind of a hands on museum with lots of cool reptiles and things! Hopefully there will be both pictures of Halloween and "school" coming to a blog near you soon!

And one more thing, I went to a conference two weekends ago for moms. It was a great chance for me to get to know some new friends, kick back and have fun, and be reminded that God created Me to be my kids' mom. He'll give me the skills and traits I need to be the mom they need me to be when I seek. The ironic thing is that the biggest thing I took away from this conference intended for mothers is that I'm a wife too and quite frankly, first. I'm very humbly admitting that Andy has taken a back seat to the boys lately and shouldn't be. It's good for Noah and Fisher to see their Momma and Daddy loving and making time for each other. Isn't it interesting how sometimes the message our heart needs to hear comes through loud and clear when we're paying attention, even when it's not at all what you were expecting?
